BEREAVEMEN­T

The sympathy of the community is extended to the chairperso­n of Oulart-The Ballagh camogie club, Mrs Geraldine Doyle, (Glynnranny) her husband Mike and family on the death of her mother, Mrs Peg Murphy, Tacumshane, whose funeral Mass took place in St Catherine’s Church, Tacumshane on Friday, February 8, followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery. The late Mrs Murphy was predecease­d by her husband Nick.

She is mourned by her daughters Frances, Elizabeth and Geraldine, her sisters Betty, Nora, Sr. Genevieve, brothers Nick, Martin, Billy and Seán, sons-in-law, grandchild­ren, great-grandchild­ren, nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours and friends. Solas na bhFlaithea­s dá hanam dílis.

NEW COOK BOOK

Transition Year Students in St Mary’s CBS, Enniscorth­y, Edward O’Dowd (Monavullen) Aaron Byrne and Seán Walsh have compiled a very attractive, 50 page cookbook called ‘Eat like an Athlete’ which is a collection of recipes and healthy tips from various well-known Irish sporting personalit­ies including Tadhg Furlong, Paul McGrath, Deirdre Duke, Paul and Gary O’Donovan, Colin Fennelly, Liam Silke and Danny Mullins as well as Oulart-The Ballagh stars Adam Nolan, Mary Leacy, Ursula Jacob, Nicola Sinnott and Keith Rossiter.

To promote the cookbook, Edward O’Dowd featured on South East Radio during the week. The cookbook is on sale in Corrigan’s of Oulart at €8. Hurry and get your copy.

SCOIL MOCHUA NOTES

Enrolment Forms, for junior infants and any other pupils who wish to start school in September 2019, are available from the school office, 9 a.m. to 2.40 p.m. Parents/Guardians are advised to complete and submit enrolment forms as soon as possible.

USED CLOTHES COLLECTION

Scoil Mochua’s next Used Clothes Collection will take place on Tuesday, February 26. Bags of clothes should be left at the school gates before 9.30 p.m. on that morning.

Items of clothing, bags, paired shoes, belts, hats, towels, curtains and bed sheets are welcome. No duvets or pillows please.

PARENTS’ ASSOCIATIO­N

A meeting of Scoil Mochua’s parents’ associatio­n will take place on Tuesday, February 19, at 8 p.m. All parents/guardians are invited to attend.

SPLIT-THE-POT

The latest winner of Scoil Mochua’s split-the-pot is Caroline Jordan, who wins €139. Entry envelopes are available from all local businesses. The next draw will be held on February 11.

GAA SCHOLARSHI­PS

Wexford GAA are offering 21 part-funded scholarshi­ps to Coláiste Laighean, New Ross in the summer of 2019.The scheme is based on the player’s family, the player’s club and Wexford GAA paying one-third each of the cost of the two – week residentia­l course. Applicants apply to their local GAA Club and will be included in a draw to determine who wins the scholarshi­p. The student’s family only has to pay €160.

The dates of the Courses are as follows: June 23 to July 7 (Cúrsa C for second year-5th Year), July 12 to July 26 (Cúrsa D for sixth class-2nd Year). Each club may nominate two names. Parents/guardians of Oulart-The Ballagh GAA and camogie players who would like their child to be entered for the draw are asked to contact Oulart-The Ballagh, Oifigeach Gaeilge and Cultúr, Breda Jacob (086 1686978) no later than March 4. If there are more than two applicants locally, a supervised draw will be held and the successful applicants will be notified.

UNDERAGE GAA

SPONGER’S EVENTS

Forthcomin­g events for Martin Sponger Fortunes Mayoral Campaign: Bingo in Bob’s bar every Tuesday night at 9 p.m. ‘Open Mic’ night every Thursday in the Sawdust at 9 p.m. On February 21, a Dog Night in Enniscorth­y with an All-Star Race starting at 8 p.m. with 10 Greyhound races on the card. Tickets are €10 each and children under-16 are free.

PHIL’S CAMPAIGN

Events for Phil Redmond’s Mayoral Campaign are as follows: Sunday, February 17, and Sunday, February 24, bingo in Oulart Community Centre at 8 p.m.

On Friday, February 15, ‘Dancing with Declan and the Classic Outlaws’ in Oulart Community Centre at 9 p.m. On Sunday, February 24, a 5k/10k Walk and Run starting at the Upper Complex at midday, with registrati­on from 11.30 a.m. The Circuit Training continues every Tuesday and Thursday in the Ballagh Community Centre from 8 p.m. to 9.00 till Thursday, February 14.
