Flower club talk to take place in Bellefield
Wexford Garden and Flower club (WGFC) will present a talk in the Community Workshop in Bellefield, Enniscorthy, on Wednesday, February 20, at 8 p.m.
The cost of admission to the event for non members will be €5.
The talk will be presented by Bob and Rosemary Salisbury and among the topics they will focus attention on will be recent reports on a fall in insect populations and the devastating affect this will have on the environment.
The Salisburys moved from England to Tyrone 15 years ago and since then they have transformed their garden into a thriving wildlife haven.
It now supports around 60 species of birds, 12 different species of mammals, and numerous insects and butterflies.
Their garden is now used as a case study for creating a wildlife area.
Mr Salisbury has also written the story of the garden, ‘Field of Dreams’, with the aim of spreading the message that conservation matters and that everyone in the community can play their own part in that.
A spokesperson for WGFC commented: ‘This talk may appeal to people who are interested in wildlife, conservation, and nature enthusiasts.’
