Stole mobile from supermarket
LUKE STRONG (20) from 10 Villa Mara, Riverchapel, Courtown indicated his willingness to undertake community service as he was convicted of theft at a Gorey sitting of the District Court.
The offence dated back to June 5 when Strong entered the local Tesco store and took a Sony mobile phone worth €250.
Judge John Cheatle was given a list of previous convictions which included counts of robbery, criminal damage and drugs possession.
However, though defending solicitor Lana Doherty acknowledged her client’s chequered history, she insisted that his recent behaviour had shown drastic improvement.
Strong was now off all hard drugs, she stated, and he was engaging with the Cornmarket Project.
The judge suggested 40 hours of community service in lieu of two months jail.
