The weather smiled on us for the Captains’ drive-in, and we enjoyed a dry if blustery day.

The occasion was most enjoyable from start to finish, and we wish Bill and Marguerite well for the coming season.

A total of 80 golfers took part in the mixed foursomes which proved to be a great social event, but not at the expense of some fine golf!

We were treated to a wonderful meal afterwards, prepared and served by our excellent staff. A huge thanks to our very generous sponsors of the day, Creacon Wellness Centre, who were represented by Jonathon.

We look forward to working together well into the future. Mixed foursomes results: 1, George Walsh and Mary Furlong, 69.5; 2, John Howlin and Anne T. Curtis, 70 (last nine); 3, Danny Hayes and Caitríona Caulfield, 70; 4, Martin Carroll and Bridget Murphy, 71.5.

Saturday saw the re-scheduled singles ‘strokeford’ competition, sponsored by Seamus Doyle painting contractor, New Ross.

In spite of some windy conditions, good golf was played. Many thanks to all who played and to our generous sponsor.

Results: 1, George Foley (14), 12; 2, Seamus O’Leary (7), 13.5; 3, Tom Fenlon (15), 14.5 (last nine); gross, Michael Ryan Jnr., 19; Cat. 1, Andrew Ryan (5), 14.5; Cat. 2, James O’Brien (15), 14.5 (last nine); Cat. 3, Paul Whealen (17), 16.5 (last nine).

Our lady President Mary Shannon collected €226.00 when the Split The Pot draw was made in front of a full house after the drive-in. The next draw will be in two weeks’ time.
