BREAKFAST GONGS FOR WEXFORD
BREAKFASTS are best in County Wexford – and that’s official!
Two Wexford establishments were named winners in their categories at the 2019 Georgina Campbell Irish Breakfast Awards, run in association with Fáilte Ireland, while Wexford also picked up a highly commended prize.
The family-run Marlfield House Hotel in Gorey claimed the top prize in the 4-star Hotel Breakfast category.
The café adjacent to Hook Lighthouse serves up a good breakfast/ brunch as it collected the Visitor Attraction Café Breakfast award.
Meanwhile, Aldridge Lodge in Dun- cannon was highly commended in the B&B Breakfast category where the top award went to Bantry House and Garden in Co Cork. Aldridge Lodge was following in the footsteps of Archways B&B in Rosslare who won the B&B Breakfast award in 2018.
Now in their third year, the Irish Breakfast Awards celebrate Ireland’s leading hospitality establishments and the people who strive to make the first meal of the day a particularly special experience for visitors and regulars alike. According to Georgina Campbell, one of Ireland’s foremost food and hospitality writers, the significance of the humble breakfast cannot be underestimated, and it is as important to Ireland’s reputation in food and tourism as a world-class hotel or a fine dining restaurant.
Representatives of all three Wexford prizewinners attended the awards ceremony at the InterContinental Dublin.
