Murphy Concrete is on the move
A Wexford based company which is regarded as one of the country’s leading manufacturers of pre-cast concrete products is moving to a newly acquired site on the outskirts of Enniscorthy.
Murphy Concrete Products is to develop a new plant at the former Boormalt site on the Old Dublin Road and it’s expected the new facility will be around 20,000sq ft in size.
Construction of the site is under way and it’s expected the move will take place in the spring. The current works include significant redevelopment and expansion of the manufacturing and office block and the plant will also feature state-of-the-art machinery and equipment.
A spokesperson for Murphy Concrete said the main driving force behind the move is to enable the company to increase its design and manufacturing capacity while also providing scope to develop new products and markets.
While to date the company’s dominant markets have been within the agriculture and construction sectors its range of new storage and septic tanks is opening new opportunities for the business to expand into the environmental market.
The business was set up in 2009 by John Murphy who is now the company’s Managing Director. He said the investment is necessary if the company is to fulfil its international expansion strategy.
Mr Murphy also said France and Germany are important markets for the business: ‘We have simply outgrown our site in Ballindaggin and the relocation to Enniscorthy is the next step in moving the business forward.’
