Two-horse race after Adamstown slip up
Division2
It looks like it could be a two-horse race in Division 2 after Glynn Barntown and Ferns United secured victories, but fellow high-flyers Adamstown suffered a defeat.
Glynn Barntown moved to the top of the table with a 4-0 win over Taghmon United. Nigel Usher opened the scoring for the new pacesetters and Robert Dempsey came off the bench to double their advantage after the interval. Fionn Cooney made it 3-0, before Dempsey rounded off the scoring with his second.
Ferns United also chalked up a 4-0 triumph, comfortably seeing off Rosslare Port with doubles from Conor Jordan and Jonny Dwyer.
Adamstown’s title chances were dented when they were beaten 4-1 away to Crossabeg AFC. The sides were deadlocked at 1-1 at the break, with Alan Bradley scoring for Adamstown, but the hosts took control after the interval. Conor Maddock (two), Kenny Kavanagh and James Carley got the goals for the winners.
Elsewhere, bottom side Shelburne United earned a rare win, with a Jess Quigley goal enough to see off Enniscorthy United.
Division3
A Jack Carroll double and a Thomas O’Brien strike earned Shamrock Rovers a 3-3 draw with Raheen FC in their Division 3 clash on Sunday.
Mervyn Moloney, Dylan Whitty and Patrick Whitty hit the back of the net for Raheen.
Kallan Murphy, Darren Cullen and Mark Dugdale got the goals for Enniscorthy Town in their 3-1 win over Wexford Celtic.
Rathnure edged out Duncannon 2-1, with Claude Flynn and Jack Butler scoring for the winners and Michael O’Grady replying.
Division4
The battle between Courtown Hibs and Rosbercon United looks like going right down to the wire after both sides recorded victories on Sunday.
Courtown eked out a 1-0 win in Camolin thanks to a Dave Fitzpatrick strike, while Rosbercon had a much more comfortable afternoon, easing to a 5-0 victory over The Ballagh United, with doubles from Kevin Doyle and Jamie St. Ledger and a David Moran goal.
Davy Cogley and Jamie Roban both bagged braces for Kiltealy Celtic in their 5-1 triumph over Gorey Celtic, with James McGrath also getting in on the act and Greg O’Rourke replying.
Elsewhere, Crossabeg were handed a walkover from Carne.
