The event is being organised by Ballyhogue GAA club and will be comprised of a 22km cycle, 1m kayak, a further 8km cycle, and a 6.5km forest run.
The significant thing about the event is that it’s suitable for people of all levels.
A spokesperson for the organising committee commented: ‘Whether you want to have a go and compete with the elite athletes or just enjoy the challenge of completing the event, Slaney Valley is suitable for all levels.’
With regard to the benefits of competing in the event the spokesperson added: ‘While we’re still in the period of New Year’s resolutions, those who resolved to get a bit fitter or be a little bit more adventurous will have the ideal opportunity as the countdown is now on for this year’s race.’
Now in its third year the popularity of the event has grown each year and it offers a unique challenge regardless of a participant’s level of fitness.
The overall distance covered in the event is 37.5km.
‘With DJs playing the music to motivate everyone and plenty of food and beverages on completion it promises to be a great, fun day, for all,’ said the spokesperson.
