Gorey Rangers march on in the FAI Junior Cup

Gorey Rangers booked their place in the last 16 of the FAI Junior Cup with a comfortabl­e win over Cashel Town in their sixth round tie at Ramstown on Sunday.

Dylan Vickers was the main man for the north county side as he helped himself to a hat-trick, with Paul Brennan grabbing their other goal in a 4-0 victory.

St. Leonards fought back from two goals down to see off Gorey Celtic 5-2 in the first round of the Neil O’Sullivan Cup on Sunday.

The hosts looked to be on their way to a shock victory over the Division 2 high-flyers, leading 2-0 early in the second-half, thanks to goals from Gavin Goodwin and Greg O’Rourke.

However, the saints rallied and stormed to victory, with Eoin Ryan and Shane Ryan both netting doubles and Adrian Flynn also getting in on the act.

Division 3 leaders Ajax Athletic shocked Division 1 side Bridge Rovers, winning 4-2 on penalties after a 2-2 draw. Jack Hanley and Liam Moore netted for the Rajahs, with Kevin Murphy hitting the back of the net twice for the Castlebrid­ge side.

Shelburne United had too much firepower for Bree United, running out 6-1 winners with doubles from Ciarán O’Connor and Brian Lynch plus a goal apiece from Pádraig Lynch and Paddy Barron.

After a scoreless first-half, Ferns went on a scoring spree after the break as they overwhelme­d Glynn Barntown 5-0, with Jonny Dwyer (two), Ryan Nolan, Ian Byrne and Robert Vickers getting their goals.

Division 2 title-hopefuls Curracloe United saw off Tombrack 2-1 after extra-time.

James Coleman fired Tombrack in front, but the seasiders fought back for victory, with Kyle Roche levelling and Mark O’Connor scoring the winner from the penalty spot.

Gorey Rangers ‘B’ booked their place in the second round with a 3-0 win over Taghmon United. Jake Flynn, Seán Roche and Kyle Kenny got their goals.

Corach Ramblers overcame St. Cormac’s 8-7 on penalties after a 2-2 draw.

John Staples fired Ramblers in front midway through the firsthalf, but Mick Sweeney restored parity before the interval.

Nathan Dickson edged Cormac’s ahead early in extra-time, but Niall Harney replied late on to force the shoot-out.

Shane Murray bagged a double for New Ross Celtic as they saw off Forth Celtic ‘B’, with David O’Connor grabbing their other goal in a 3-1 victory.

Devin Wall-Walsh had his shooting boots on as Duncannon eased past St. Joseph’s, scoring four times in a 7-2 victory. Jason O’Grady chipped in with a double for the seasiders, with Keith Donnelly also getting his name on the scoresheet.

Wexford Celtic trailed 4-0 to Enniscorth­y United, before rallying and eventually suffering a 5-4 defeat. Seán Tyrell, Luke Codd and Kyle Mann (two) scored for the Sinnottsto­wn Lane outfit.

Willie Dobbs bagged a hattrick for United, while Ryan Murphy and Dylan Groarke grabbed a goal apiece.

Elsewhere, Crossabeg edged out Raheen 6-5 on penalties after a 3-3 draw (see focus match).

Division 3A title-hopefuls All Blacks proved much too good for Division 4 side Kiltealy Celtic as they stormed to a 7-1 win in their Billy Browne Cup first round match on Sunday.

Daithí Moore hit the back of the net four times, while Adam Devereux, Darren Naughton and David Moore chipped in with a goal apiece.

Division 4 leaders Camolin Celtic overcame Division 3A opponents when edging out Rosbercon United 3-2.

Glen Carton (two) and Daryl Murphy scored for the winners, with Craig O’Brien and Tommy Quinn replying.

Shane Bergin and Aaron Donovan got the goals for Wexford Bohs ‘B’ in their 2-0 win over Bridge Rovers ‘B’, while Rosslare Rangers ‘B’ beat Bunclody ‘B’ 2-1.

John Kane got the goal for Bunclody, with Jamie Tompkins and Cian Buttle hitting the back of the net for Rangers.

Glynn Barntown ‘B’ clinched their place in the second round of the Gwyn Jones Cup as they edged out Enniscorth­y United ‘C’ 4-3 on penalties after a 2-2 draw.

United took the lead through Nick Roche, but goals from Jack Wilde and Tommy Smiley put Glynn Barntown in the driving seat.

The Enniscorth­y side forced extra-time with a late James Sheridan penalty, but it was the visitors who prevailed in the shoot-out.

There was better luck for Enniscorth­y United ‘B’ as they overwhelme­d Curracloe United ‘B’ 10-0, thanks to a Hasane Smyth hat-trick, doubles from Billy Millar and Joe Millar, and a goal apiece from Oumair Rauf, Darren Walsh and Mick Rigley.

Elsewhere, Shamrock Rovers ‘B’ beat Wexford Celtic ‘B’ 3-1.

Reuben Deane got the goal for Celtic, while Mark Redmond, Dillon Shannon and Ryan Heimsoth were on target for Rovers.
