It’s auditions time for Wexford Has Talent!

-

INTEREST is high but spaces remain in the Wexford Has Talent auditions, taking place at Clayton Whites Hotel this coming Sunday, January 19.

So far more than 60 acts have registered online in advance to pre-book an audition space. Auditionees can also turn up on the day.

The 2020 Wexford Has Talent competition has a huge prize pot of €3,500. The winner will receive a cool €2,000 in cash, with two runners-up collecting €750 each.

Sponsored by the Wexford People, the Wexford Has Talent competition has taken place in Wexford town annually since 2015.

The event has grown to become recognised as ‘ the’ talent competition in the county, launching and awarding top local talent such as the band Fit for Kings, gymnast Tara Doyle Robinson, the Seventh Fret musical group, Rachel Grace and the 2019 winner Luke Spellacy Shaw.

From the auditions process, the judges will select a shortlist of 24 to 30 acts who will then go forward to take part in the live audience semi-finals at Clayton Whites on Saturday, February 1 and Sunday, February 2.

The Wexford Has Talent Grand Final takes place on Saturday, February 29, when at least 12 acts will compete for the top prize before an audience of 600 people. Finalists will be competing in three categories: Over 25s, Variety and Under 25s Music & Song. The overall winner will emerge from one of these categories, with the runner-up prizes being awarded to the best acts in each of the remaining two categories.

In a big reveal, the acts who earn the judges’ approval at the auditions will be featured in this newspaper on Tuesday, January 21. They will then perform in one of the two semi-final live shows. Tickets for the semis and final will be released over coming weeks, priced at €10 and €15 respectively. Organiser’s say that all acts who turn up to audition will get a chance to showcase their talent.

Enda Whelan, chairman of the Sarsfields club who host the competition, says, ‘Wexford Has Talent 2020 is set to be another brilliant entertainment show and for everyone who would like the opportunity to take part, we are encouraging those planning to audion to pre-register for a faster process. ‘However, if you decide on the day to come along to audition you will also get an audition slot. We wish everyone the very best of luck.’
