Tradebridge project gets funding boost
THE Tradebridge project in Wexford, which seeks to promote trade between the South East and Savannah, Georgia, in the US, received a major funding boost this week. Minister of State Paul Kehoe confirmed that the project has been selected as a recipient for a major grant worth nearly a quarter of a million euro.
Tradebridge has developed a wonderful link between
Wexford and the US city, with numerous delegations having travelled between the two and
Georgia Southern University even choosing the model county as the location for their European campus.
Minister Kehoe says that it is his hope that the significant funding of €247,827 will strengthen trade paths between
Wexford and Savannah even further and lead to the creation of further employment in Wexford and the South East.
‘ The funding represents a significant moment for Tradebridge,’ he said, thanking his cabinet colleague, Minister for Business, Enterprise and Innovation, Heather Humphreys, Enterprise Ireland and Wexford County Council Chief Executive Tom Enright for all their work in harnessing the links between Wexford and Savannah.
According to Minister Kehoe , Tradebridge plans to build on the success of the pilot initiative to become a Regional Development Programme promoting export sales from the South East of Ireland to America via Savannah and South East Georgia by way of personal introductions.
‘ Tradebridge is being selected as it is a project at the cutting edge of innovation,’ Minister Kehoe said.
‘I am confident that they have the potential to make a real and lasting impact on enterprise development in Wexford.’
The funding is part of a €40m fund aimed at 26 projects nationwide.
