Happy birthday!
Lucetta Porter from Kilcannon, Enniscorthy, cutting her cake as she celebrated her 90th birthday last week.
HAVING to cocoon didn’t stop one energetic Co Wexford woman from celebrating her 90th birthday in style recently.
Lucetta Porter, from Kilcannon, enjoyed a lovely party with her daughter, with whom she lives, and her granddaughter, who lives next door.
While observing social distancing the family arranged a lovely surprise for Lucetta as they got relatives, neighbours and friends to video a message to her wishing her a happy birthday.
In lovely sunshine the family then set up a TV in the back garden and in keeping with guidelines they then sat around the TV and viewed the messages - some of which came from as fa away as Uganda.
A long term member of the Mother’s Union in Enniscorthy there is little doubt that if all was well with the world her party would have attracted a very large crowd - such is the high regard in which she is held.
However, some of those who wished her well on her landmark birthday included TV personality, Daithi O’Shea, Irish music legends, Foster & Allen, and Jessica Harrington who is renowned within equestrian circles.
Born in Island Farm, Wells, Gorey, Lucetta moved to Kilcannon after getting married in 1957, where she and her husband ran a very successful farm and were blessed with four children.
Unfortunately, her husband passed away 38 years ago.
Lucetta has always been active in her community and enjoyed great success with her food entries into events like the Enniscorthy Show and that talent is something she passed on to her children and grandchildren.
Very well informed about world events Lucetta is an avid reader and is well known and respected as a knowledgable person who can converse with anyone on just about any subject.
Her 90th birthday may have been different but it was also a very special occasion.
