Producers join forces with Neighbour food to supply local foods
A TOTAL of 25 of Wexford’s most-loved food producers have faced up to the challenge of Covid-19 and recently joined forces with some local hosts to bring the marketplace back to the people of Wexford, with the help of Neighbourfood.ie.
With three collection points set up in the county, once a week customers can sign up to order and collect their unique selection of artisan foods via the website.
The Enniscorthy collection point is Castle Lane, Brownswood, while the Gorey collection point is Gorey Train Station and the Wexford collection point is at McDonalds Car Park in Drinagh Retail Park, Sinnottstown Lane.
Working on this contact-free service during the coronavirus crisis, Alicia Harpur is the Enniscorthy host, with her husband Peter as the Wexford host, while Lorraine O’Dwyer of Galavanting Tours is the Gorey host for this new initiative.
Along with Taste Wexford, the hosts were delighted to welcome Regans Organic Farm, Staffords Butchers, Enniscorthy, O’Neills Dry Cure Bacon, Wild About, The Wine Buff, Bramble Cottage Kitchen, Macamore Buffalo and much more.
Organisers said that the initiative aims to encourage people to shop local during these times of hardship for small businesses, but they explained that there is also a very real public demand for the service.
Hosts Alicia Harpur and Lorraine O’Dwyer can be contacted through the website, and are available to answer any questions you may have about the service. They hope to add more producers over the coming weeks. To find out more, visit www.neighbourfood.ie/markets.
