C&D launches new online store
C&D Providers has launched a new online store as it strives to meet demand for its products during lockdown.
Promising to fulfil all orders within five days, the online store, which can be found at www.tjomahony.ie, has led to some staff being redeployed at the business.
However, contrary to some reports, C&D and other construction suppliers/DIY stores will not be reopening any time before May 5.
Managing director Dennis O’Connor moved to clarify some reports which had suggested otherwise.
‘While our industry is categorised as “essential”, we can only supply on delivery basis in the case of emergency and/ or through online trading under strict NSAI guidelines,’ said Mr O’Connor.
Some of those emergencies saw C&D provide building supplies to designated HSE sites, hospital extensions and care units set up specifically to deal with the coronavirus.
In the main though, the business has not been trading since the restrictions were brought into place on March 27. That was the case until the launch of its new website last week and, while he is hopeful of a reopening on May 5, Mr O’Connor said the focus for everyone at C&D right now was in fulfilling online orders.
‘ The past week has been challenging, largely due to the extent of the orders we received and the fact many of our supply partners are not open to replenish to our standard stock levels.
‘We are now in a position where we are confident that changes we have made to our processes will greatly enhance our lead times, but we kindly ask for customers’ patience and understanding with us this coming week in light of current circumstances.’
In addition to delivering items to customers, C&D is also provided a phone service for those attempting DIY projects at home.
‘Our phones are manned with staff during business hours,’ said Mr O’Connor. ‘ There’s a lot of people attacking DIY projects at the moment and they may need assistance.
‘If so, they can ring our team for advice and we’d be delighted to help them. We’re also looking into creating ‘ how-to’ videos online for people to watch and take tips from.’
