Creative Jodie (9) pens a pandemic poem
A THIRD-class student in Tombrack National School has used her time at home to enhance her inherent creative flair by putting pen to paper to compose a special poem.
Jodie Plummer (9) sent the poem into the school, and all of the teaching staff were very impressed.
It tells the story of the coronavirus crisis from her perspective.
In addition to writing her poem in her copy, she also emphasises the message of staying safe, encouraging people to wash their hands and to keep a social distancing of two metres.
Covid-19, by Jodie Plummer
It all started off in Wuhan, When someone ate a bat,
You can buy them in a grocery shop, I can’t imagine that.
This turned into a virus, Very, very quick.
It swept through the whole world, Making people very sick.
Now it’s a pandemic,
Which isn’t very cool.
I can’t see my nanny and grandad, I can’t go to school.
It’s important to wash your hands, Twenty times a day,
And hopefully this dirty little virus, Will soon go away.
Then things will return to normal, And that will be the end.
I can get back to hugging my family, And back to seeing my friends.
