An overview of what to expect in the future
1. The Leaving Cert will use the best information about a student’s achievements by asking teachers to review numerous pieces of information about their work over the last two years.
2. Teachers will have to keep a record of the evidence that they used to come to the estimated mark and ranking.
3. Teachers must share their rankings and students’ estimated marks with their fellow teachers before they becomes part of the process. Rankings will be submitted. The Department can refer any marks or rankings back to the relevant group of teachers for re-consideration, if needed.
4. An appeals process is available involving several checks. Alternatively, candidates will be able to take the examination when it is safe to do so at a later date.
5. Students will have access to the school-based data in the event that they appeal.
