Man said he found cocaine in pub
An Enniscorthy builder’s labourer who admitted having €150 worth of cocaine told his solicitor that he found the drug in a public house and put it in his pocket.
The explanation offered by 42-yearold Martin O’Sullivan, 15 Ross Road, Enniscorthy, met a sceptical response when it was passed on to Judge Brian O’Shea in the District Court on May 20.
Father of two O’Sullivan pleaded guilty to possessing the cocaine and the court learned that he had a previous conviction for cultivation of drugs, which was imposed in 2014.
As he did not have a clean record, the judge felt that he must impose a conviction for the offence committed on October 5 last, adding a fine of €250.
