Accused not present as he’s in Australia
A 23-year-old Marshalstown man accused of a drugs offence was not present to deal with the matter as he was in Australia, the District Court was told.
Solicitor Lana Doherty represented James Farrell, Ballyorrill, before Judge Brian O’Shea and she entered a plea of guilty.
She stated that he was in quarantine in Australia and confirmed that he was not in attendance. The case dated back to September 14 last when €100 worth of cocaine was seized at Viking’s Wharf.
The judge took account of the fact that Farrell had no previous convictions as he allowed the accused the benefit of the Probation Act.
