Bunclody Beat

- with Barbara-Anne Murphy

VOLUNTEERS REQUIRED

Ger Mackey, the Enniscorthy Municipal District Manager is starting a new initiative to try to freshen up the towns and villages under the banner ‘Enniscorthy District Community Support’ in the aftermath of the Covid-19 lockdown.

The Co. Council will supply paint, brushes, PPE and Covid-19 safety induction training to people who volunteer to carry out this type of work in Bunclody town.

Bunclody Tidy Towns have drawn up a list of work that needs doing in the public realm and this may give people the opportunity to safely help out in the local area and give them an opportunity to get out of the house for a few hours.

Volunteers will be asked to paint public seating and bins, weeding and planting flower beds and planters and a general ‘tidy up’ so we can all enjoy our town looking at its best for the summer.

If you are interested in volunteering to help, please contact Barbara-Anne Murphy 0876736966 or Teresa or Lucy at Bunclody Tidy Towns

Your help with this project will be greatly appreciated.

BUNCLODY SWIMMING POOL

Bunclody Swimming Pool Committee has made the difficult decision not to open the pool this summer for the first time in our 49-year history.

We realise this will be a huge loss to the community but feel it is the responsible course of action.

It is agreed that the tennis courts and playground will also remain closed until further notice for the same reasons.

Bunclody Swimming Pool

Committee will, however, have to continue paying their annual insurance premium in the region of €12,000 and for this reason have decided to continue with the Silver Circle Draw. The June draw will be held on Friday, June 5, at social distance, with the final draw taking place in July.

If you are a monthly subscriber to the Draw please make sure that you pay your draw co-ordinator to bring you up to date so your name can be included in the June and July draws.

Your support is greatly needed and we all look forward to having the pool and other amenities open to all of us next year.

KCLR FM is running a series of interviews on Eimear Ni Bhraonáin’s morning talk show KCLR Live, covering a range of topics aiming to support your health and wellbeing during these difficult times.

Healthy Carlow and Healthy Kilkenny are running the campaign. We recognise that as a result of to the Covid 19 pandemic and associated restrictions, a lot of people have found themselves facing new challenges.

We will hear from a range of local services who will explore how the pandemic and restrictions may be making us feel, what we can do to look after our wellbeing and where we can go for support.

Topics we’ll be covering will include looking after your mental health, supporting young people, including Leaving Cert students, staying active and playing with young families, coping at home and helping in the community.

Throughout the series we will be myth busting, identifying where we can get accurate information and signposting where to go for additional support.

Wellbeing initiatives right across Government are being collated as part of the ‘In This Together’ campaign. This information can be easily found on www.Gov.ie/together
