ArtBank looking ahead to exhibition

-

THE people behind the ArtBank initiative in Bunclody are looking to the future while current activities at the arts venue are curtailed due to the Covid-19 restrictions.

The arts and cultural hub is one of the most vibrant centres of its type in the county and enjoys an enviable reputation for promoting quality creative arts across a wide range of media.

John Renwick and the team behind the initiative are very respected throughout the Bunclody and the wider arts sector across the county.

Despite the current pandemic the centre is still keen to promote the arts in whatever way it can.

Normally, it holds and annual exhibition featuring the works of ArtBank creative, Peter Cunningham’s advanced painters.

However, while the current situation means that plans to hold that exhibition are temporarily on hold, the ArtBank posted one of Mr Cunningham’s work on its social media page.

The painting, of Lough Doo, in County Mayo is a beautiful piece of work and as part of the post the ArtBank said everyone is looking ahead to staging the full exhibition of Mr Cunningham’s advanced painters later in the year: ‘Every year a very special exhibition takes place here in ArtBank Bunclody featuring recent works by Peter Cunningham’s Advanced Painters. We trust that it will take place once more in the lead up to Christmas.’

‘We are including a few photographs from last year’s exhibition as a reminder for you all and would like to send our best wishes to everyone and look forward to all of us being in each other’s company again,’ said the ArtBank in its online post.

The high regard in which the ArtBank is held by everyone in the community was, perhaps, underlined best in a recent fundraising initiative organised by Jennifer Byrne through Gofundme, which raised €2,535 to help keep the self-funded centre open while restrictions are in place.
