Day care centre to host tea party for Alzheimer’s Society

-

A well-known Alzheimer’s Day Care Centre in Co Wexford is due to host a fundraising Tea Day later this month.

The Alzheimer’s Day Centre in Riverchapel, Gorey, will host an Alzheimer’s Tea Day as part of a nationwide fundraiser for the Alzheimer Society of Ireland. This is the 30th anniversary of the popular Tea Day fundraiser.

The Riverchapel Tea Day will take place on Tuesday, April 30, from 11am to 1pm. The 30th anniversary is a significant milestone as statistics show that at least 30 people in Ireland are diagnosed with dementia every day.

The Alzheimer Society of Ireland’s vital work has provided much-needed resources and services for the 64,000 individuals living with dementia and their families nationwide. Tea Day helps to support the ASI so they can continue their efforts.

Over the 30 years, Tea Day has raised €10 million for the cause. Funds raised through Alzheimer’s Tea Day support critical services like the Alzheimer’s National Helpline, Daycare programmes, home care, family carer training, social clubs, and Alzheimer’s cafes.

Mairéad Dillon, Head of Fundraising for the ASI, commented, “Whether you host an event, attend one, or simply donate, every action brings us closer to a future where no one faces dementia alone.”
