TABLE QUIZ

Carrigduff National School PTA are holding a table quiz in Conway’s, Kildavin on Friday, April 26, at 8 p.m. The entry fee for a table of four is €50.

It promises to be an evening of fun and an opportunit­y to meet friends, win prizes and have a good time. Proceeds in aid of the school playground fund.

MEET YOUR NEIGHBOUR EVENT

Bunclody Men’s Shed hosted the first Meet your Neighbour event in St Aidan’s Community Hall, Bunclody, on Thursday, April 11.

Eleven community groups and clubs had secured tables to promote their causes, Foróige, who are looking for parents to help run the senior and junior clubs, Bunclody Horticultu­ral Society were promoting their plant sale on June 22, Bunclody Men’s Shed are about to run a course in stool making, Slaney Paddlers, who are waiting for the warmer weather to get back on the river, the knitting group showed of some of their knitted items, Wexford PPN promoting their community network, St Mary’s Church, who discussed the work of the four parishes in the team, Bunclody/Kilmyshal Drama Group promoting future plays, Bunclody Bridge club, explained the rules of the game and encouragin­g new members, the Badminton Club, from St Mary’s Sunday School, no longer the best kept secret in the town and Scouting Ireland, looking to set up a scout group in the town.

The organisati­ons all reported keen interest in what their group had to offer, with several signing up new members.

Bunclody Men’s Shed would like to thank all the participat­ing community groups and the following for their assistance in making this event a great success:

- Annette Dupuy, the county co-ordinator for Healthy Wexford, who sponsored the evening.

- Wexford Local Developmen­t’s Empowering Communitie­s co-ordinators Catherine McGrath and Laurentiu Ion, who helped organise and run the event.

- Áine from the Tidy Towns, who skilfully served the refreshmen­ts throughout, which included an array of donated delicious homemade cakes.

BUNCLODY HORTICULTU­RAL SOCIETY

Bunclody Horticultu­ral Society’s next event with be with Brona Dore in River’s Edge, Bunclody on Thursday, May 16, at 8 p.m. with her talk on ‘Growing to eat – for one or two.’ Brona has been gardening since childhood, living in a garden filled with fruit and vegetables. She is now living in Wexford where she continues to have something from the garden on the table every day of the year.

COLIN BYRNE BURSARY

The Colin Byrne Bursary Bar-B-Que and Fun Day will be held at Murphy’s Tig Leath Slí on Sunday, May 5, starting at 3 p.m. There will be Tug of War, music, Kids Face Painting and Entertainm­ent. Music by Dylan and Jodie, James Reed and Freeway.

BUNCLODY TIDY TOWNS

Bunclody Tidy Towns group have been busy doing major litter picks in the area on Saturday mornings, weather permitting, followed by a sociable coffee and scone in River’s Edge.

THE MALL MARKET

The Mall Market has returned to Market Square and will be there on the first and last Saturday of each month, weather permitting.

On sale will be a mixture of vintage and new items – Bunclody honey, Cranes potatoes, no added sugar brown bread, jams (Sliabh Bhuí jams have no artificial pectin), cakes, Bakewell tarts, apple tarts, a selection of hand knits, children’s toys, JT Plants and flowers, hand sewn toys bags, dog bandanas and jewellery.

Do come along for a browse and a chat.

LOCAL ELECTIONS CAMPAIGN LAUNCH

Local councillor Barbara-Anne Murphy will hold her Local Elections Campaign Lauch in River’s Edge on Thursday, May 9 at 8 p.m. Minister for State TD Jack Chambers will be there to launch Barbara-Anne’s campaign. All are welcome to come along and enjoy the music and chat on the evening.

BADMINTON

Bunclody Badminton Club continues to welcome new members on a Thursday evening at 8 p.m. in the Sunday School, beside St Mary’s Church. The club arranges playing time, coaching, introducin­g new players to the basics of the sport, as well as putting teams together and organising friendly matches with other clubs. Bedtime Storytime for three- to fiveyear-olds on Thursday, April 18, from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Join us for a Bedtime Stories event. Make sure and wear your favourite PJ’s and bring along your favourite cuddly toy. Children of all ages love bedtime stories. It’s never too early to start reading to your child so why not pick up a book from your local library and start tonight. Booking essential. Mindfulnes­s, Meditation and Sound Therapy with Sundara Selfcare – Thursday, April 25, at 7 p.m. Join Bernadette Murphy from Sundara Selfcare for a relaxing mindful evening which includes tips on bringing Meditation and Mindfulnes­s into your daily life. The session will end with some sound therapy leaving everyone feeling relaxed, balanced and better able to cope with life. Places limited, booking essential.

Spring into Storytime: Storytime and Craft Event – Saturday, April 27, from 11 a.m. to midday As part of our Spring into Storytime programme, join us for a storytime and craft for ages 4-7 years. Please book a space for the child only.

Kids’ Board Games Afternoon – Saturday, April 27, 2 p.m. to 3.30 p.m. New event. Pop into the library this afternoon to play some of our favourite children’s board games. This is a family event. No need to book – all welcome.

Home Energy Saving Kits are now available to borrow from Bunclody Library. The kits contain a range of tools/exercises to help householde­rs make sense of the energy they consume on a daily basis and to identify possible problem areas. Kilmyshall split-the-pot envelopes are available from HWH Shop, Steemers, Cahill’s hardware, D & M Laundrette, Glanbia, Redmond’s Bar, Byrnes Hardware Ryland Lower, Kilmyshall parish office and Kilmyshall School.

The pot is split between Kilmyshall School and the parish. Draw takes place every Friday.

PILGRIMAGE TO GARBANDAL

A pilgrimage to Garbandal takes place from Sunday, June 16, to Wednesday, June 19. The cost is €250 per person sharing sharing or €330 single. That includes bus transfers from Santander to Garbandal, accommodat­ion and full board.
