St Joseph’s fo­cuses on stu­dent well­be­ing in very spe­cial week

TAK­ING the holis­tic ap­proach to ed­u­ca­tion is a sec­ondary school in Rush which took time out re­cently to fo­cus on the well­be­ing of its stu­dents.

Re­cently in St. Joseph’s Sec­ondary School Rush was Well­be­ing Week.

This is a vi­tal week in the school sched­ule which al­lows stu­dents and teach­ers alike to re­flect and par­take in ac­tiv­i­ties to high­light the im­por­tance of each per­son’s own phys­i­cal and men­tal well­be­ing.

This week pro­vided an op­por­tu­nity to par­tic­i­pate in ac­tiv­i­ties in­clud­ing: lessons on anti-bul­ly­ing; mind­ful­ness ex­er­cises; yoga classes; recre­ational and sports club speed day; talks from guest speak­ers on racism, healthy re­la­tion­ships and cy­ber se­cu­rity; and more.

Stu­dents were also pro­vided with healthy eat­ing fresh fruit sam­ples as al­ter­na­tive choices for snacks at break time and lunch. The week was topped off for the stu­dents with their school tours where they went to places such as Croke Park and Car­ling­ford.
