Coun­cil­lor asks help for groups ap­ply­ing for re­newal grant aid

THE coun­cil has been asked to ‘meet with Don­abate Por­trane Li­a­sion Com­mit­tee and Don­abate Por­trane Com­mu­nity Coun­cil and the Lo­cal Tidy Towns group with a view to mak­ing a for­mal ap­pli­ca­tion for the 2018 Town and Vil­lage Re­newal Scheme in or­der for an ap­pli­ca­tion to be sub­mit­ted around a num­ber of key ar­eas within both Don­abate and Por­trane that re­quire ob­vi­ous re­newal and im­prove­ment.’

Mak­ing the re­quest and ac­knowl­edg­ing the Por­trane area had been suc­cess­ful in win­ning a grant un­der the scheme, this year was Cllr Adrian Henchy (FF).

In re­sponse, the coun­cil is­sued a pos­tive re­sponse to the lo­cal coun­cil­lor.

In a writ­ten re­port, the lo­cal au­thor­ity stated: ‘Ar­range­ments will be made to meet with the groups listed in the near fu­ture with a view to dis­cussing their pro­pos­als un­der the 2018 Town & Vil­lage Re­newal Scheme.’

Por­trane won €32,000 in grants un­der the scheme, which were an­nounced re­cently by the Govern­ment
