Proposal for closure of vehicular right of way at Church Rd Swords
A proposal to permanently extinguish a vehicular right of way at the junction of Bridge Street and Church Road in Swords is to go out for public consultation.
The move, according to the council will ‘not materially affect traffic movements in the ara’ as it is already the subject of a temporary closure.
The extinguishing of this right of way is part of the planning permission for the huge nursing home currently under construction at Bridge Street.
Council officials said they hoped to put the proposal out for public consultation and get locals feedback on the project ‘very soon’.
A number of local councillors asked to see the map of the proposal and Cllr Joe Newman asked if the new junction would be two-way.
These and other questions will be addressed during the public consultation period.
That process should begin soon after the councillors on the Balbriggan/swords Area Committee agreed to let the planned closure go out on public display.
Once the public has had their say on the issue, a report will be brought back to the councillors for a final decision on the proposal. The proposal will be on display at council offices in Swords soon.
