The fes­tive sea­son is to kick off in Swords

THE fes­tive sea­son in Swords be­gins in earnest in late Novem­ber as the Christ­mas lights are switched on.

Swords en­ters the fes­tive fray on Fri­day, Novem­ber 30 at 6pm at Swords Castle.

The Swords Castle Christ­mas Mar­ket will take place on the same day from 12pm to 8pm and on Satur­day, 1 De­cem­ber from 11am to 6pm.

The Christ­mas Mar­ket will fea­ture over 45 traders, with an em­pha­sis on lo­cal prod­ucts, pro­duc­ers and artists.

Fam­i­lies will be en­ter­tained heartily by var­i­ous at­trac­tions in­clud­ing Santa Claus, face paint­ing, bal­loon mod­el­ling and Christ­mas char­ac­ters. En­ter­tain­ment will also be pro­vided by var­i­ous lo­cal choirs and mu­si­cal groups in the Chapel Room of Swords Castle on Satur­day, 1 De­cem­ber.

Free park­ing will be pro­vided in Swords for the pub­lic on the week­ends up to Christ­mas on De­cem­ber 1 and 2 at Seatown Car Park, on De­cem­ber 8 and 9 a tthe ex­ec­u­tive car park on Seatown Road, near County Hall and a tthe same car park on De­cem­ber 15 and 16 and on De­cem­ber 22 and 23. Free pay-and-display park­ing will also be avail­able in Swords, Balbriggan, Sk­er­ries and Rush this year on De­cem­ber 8. 15 and 22. Fin­gal County Coun­cil Chief Ex­ec­u­tive Paul Reid said: ‘The Christ­mas pe­riod is a won­der­ful time for our fam­i­lies and com­mu­ni­ties in Fin­gal, and we’re de­lighted to kick off the cel­e­bra­tions and sup­port busi­nesses and the pub­lic in mak­ing the most of the fes­tive sea­son.’
