Young Sci­en­tists ready for big day

Stu­dents across Fin­gal will have one eye on mid-jan­uary this Christ­mas when they have a date with the Young Sci­en­tist judges at the RDS.

The event will be held in the RDS Arena in Dublin from Jan­uary 9 to 12 and brings to­gether some of the coun­try’s bright­est young minds as they com­pete to take home the ti­tle of the BT Young Sci­en­tist & Tech­nol­o­gist(s) of the Year 2019.

There will be 550 projects on show at the Ex­hi­bi­tion across four cat­e­gories: Tech­nol­ogy; Bi­o­log­i­cal and Eco­log­i­cal; So­cial and Be­havioural Sciences; and Chem­i­cal, Phys­i­cal and Math­e­mat­i­cal Sciences. This year’s projects cover a wide va­ri­ety of top­ics, from Cli­mate Change to Gen­der Di­ver­sity.

Ir­ish video game de­vel­oper, Steve Collins, will be host­ing a live Q&A on Thurs­day, Jan­uary 10th at the Ex­hi­bi­tion. Steve will speak about the tech­nol­ogy that goes into tak­ing a video game from an idea to a disc. Stu­dents and vis­i­tors can win a chance to meet Steve by en­ter­ing the #Gam­ingstartshere com­pe­ti­tion on BTYSTE so­cial me­dia chan­nels now.

With four packed ex­hi­bi­tion halls full of ex­cit­ing things to see and do, the BT Young Sci­en­tist & Tech­nol­ogy Ex­hi­bi­tion has some­thing to stim­u­late the minds of ev­ery gen­er­a­tion. Tick­ets are avail­able on­line now cost­ing €8 for stu­dents, €12 adults and €25 for a fam­ily pass which in­cludes two adults and two chil­dren. Tick­ets guar­an­tee en­try to all of the Ex­hi­bi­tion and to all spe­cial shows.
