Inal rehearsal

Fingal Independent - - SPORT -

Ashbourne would want to forget as they conceded 26 unanswered points and produced a very disappointing display. It means there is much work to be done before these sides meet again in three weeks’ time in the All-ireland Junior Cup Final in Edenderry, with Ashbourne defending their title, but the capability is there.

The 2nd XV went down 21-8 but are one point clear of Enniscorthy in their league going into next weekend’s derbies against Dundalk. In terms of the first team, Ashbournecould find themselves in the relegation play-off position should they lose and that doesn’t bear thinking about for a team who were champions less than a year ago. ASHBOURNE: Patrick Murtagh; Andrew Gibson, Colm Craigie, Mark Rooney, Matt Connolly; Donal Crotty, Shane Bass; Frank Keegan, Danny Norton, Mark Behan; Sean Kent, Ciaran Roche; Conor Hurley, Justin Whittaker, Jake Wall. Replacements: Brendan Meehan, Alan Wall, Adam Carberry, Gavin Kennedy, Dermot Colreavy.
