Skerries harbour pontoons investigated
COUNCIL consultants are looking into a proposal to provide ‘pontoon’s for pleasure craft at Skerris Harbour.
In response to a request from Cllr Cathal Boland (NP) for an update on the proposal, which he said would ‘assist with ease of access to craft, particularly for those who have mobility issues’, the council issued a written report.
That report states: ‘The council issued a tender for consultancy services in respect of Fingal harbours on etenders on 29th November 2018. As part of the brief, the consultants have been asked to review a proposal for the installation of a floating pontoon to service pleasure leisure craft launching from Skerries pier.
Cronin Millar, Consulting Engineers were handed the task and given a brief for their investigations, following which, a design for the pontoon development could be progressed, according to the local authority.
Consultants have also been tasked with coming up with estimated costs from the project, according to the Fingal County Council report. The council will await the consultant’s report before progressing the issue.
