EX­PE­RI­ENCED hooker James Mccaghy has played an in­stru­men­tal role in Ash­bourne RFC’S re­cent suc­cesses, in­clud­ing two All-ire­land Cups, a Pro­vin­cial Towns Cup, Leinster League ti­tles and Mcgowan and Spencer Cup wins.

The Hollystown na­tive played AIL rugby with Na­van and has also been a reg­u­lar on the Leinster Ju­nior In­ter­provin­cial side.

Bet­ter known as Jimmy, he came through the youth ranks in Ash­bourne and Castle­knock Col­lege where he played on the JCT team and grad­u­ated as start­ing ho oker for the 1st XV at 20.

A for­mer club cap­tain, James plays with con­vic­tion, com­mit­ment and heart, help­ing to back­bone a tal­ented Ash­bourne side.
