Pierce Turner to record his new album in a Manhattan church

-

2015 is shaping up to be a very good year for Pierce Turner who has a new album in the pipeline, and live shows both in Ireland and New York.

The date of note for Wexford fans is Friday, June 5, when he brings it all back home for a show at Wexford Arts Centre. It’s at the tail end of a mini Irish tour which also takes in The Seamus Ennis Centre, Naul, on Saturday, May 2; Coughlans, Cork City, on Friday, May 8; and The National Concert Hall (John Field Room) on May 12.

The Wexford man is currently in his beloved New York where expats will have plenty of opportunities to catch him in action in coming months. (Check out the live schedule at www. pierceturner.com).

Plans are also in train for a new Pierce Turner album, the follow-up to ‘Songs For A Verry Small Orchestra’. Pierce says he has found the perfect recording venue for the new venture: an ‘amazing’ church in Manhattan, built by the same designer as the Metropolitan Opera House in 1850.

‘ The acoustics are wonderful and they have an array of perfect instruments to build thoughts around, a full size pipe organ, a Baldwin grand piano and a harpsichord.’

A Pledge campaign to fund the album is in the offing and Swedish composer Hans Engstrom will produce.

Engstrom, who has produced platinum selling albums in Sweden and scored several movies in the UK, is currently working on another Turner project, remixing ‘Songs For A Verry Small Orchestra’ for a new music website he has co-founded.
