North End draw Moyross
NORTH END United have been handed a daunting task in the F.A.I. Junior Cup quarter-finals. HAVING lost out in the last 16 of the Leinster Junior Cup, the Wexford town side must travel to Limerick to take on Moyross United, a game that is sure to pose a huge challenge.
As their league-cup double bid for a second successive year continues on the domestic scene, the build-up of fixtures saw the reigning league champions use many of their extended squad when they comfortably saw off Kilmore United 5-2 in the league on Sunday.
The three points along with the outcome of midweek games sees them close in on the leaders, Shamrock Rovers, with a number of games in hand.
The quarter-final with Moyross has been fixed for Sunday, March 29. Should the players remain injury-free in what is now a packed fixtures programme, they will be quietly confident of securing a semi-final spot, as they have been showing quality and composure in all of their games so far this season.
Philip Power’s Moyross side will be confident of progress though, particularly after knocking out former champions and highly-rated Carrick United in the last round.
Interestingly, John Godkin’s men have been on the road in five of their six F.A.I. Junior Cup ties to date.
Ironically their only home tie was against another Limerick side, Pike Rovers, and they knocked out the 2013 semi-finalists 2-1.
