Man pleads guilty to indecent assault in 1970s
A SOUTH WEXFORD man who pleaded guilty to two charges of indecent assault has been remanded on continuing bail while awaiting sentence.
When the case came before Judge Cormac Quinn at Wexford Circuit Court, Prosecuting Counsel, Sinead Gleeson, said it’s a matter which should be heard in camera.
The defendant pleaded guilty to indecent assault between September 6, 1978, and September 5, 1979. He further pleaded guilty to a charge of indecent assault between September 6, 1979 and September 5, 1980.
Defence Counsel, Philip Sheahan, asked that sentencing be put back with the defendant on continuing bail. He also requested that a Probation and Welfare report be provided. The defendant, he said, had no previous convictions.
Ms Gleeson also requested that a victim impact report be provided.
Judge Quinn said he would remand the defendant on continuing bail to January 11 next for sentencing.
