€360,000 for Gorey area

THE GOREY DIS­TRICT re­ceived €360,890 for dif­fer­ent projects un­der the Vil­lage Re­newal Scheme 2018.

Cour­town Devel­op­ment As­so­ci­a­tion and the lo­cal au­thor­ity re­ceived €197,311 for en­hance­ment works to the wooden ship and pier in Cour­town and River­chapel while Ferns Devel­op­ment As­so­ci­a­tion was al­lo­cated €99,580 for a themed play­ground, tourism project and en­hance­ment works on the com­mu­nity hall.

Fund­ing was al­lo­cated to Askamore Muin­tir na Tír Com­mu­nity Project Ltd. to carry out sim­i­lar re­pairs and en­hance­ment work to their lo­cal com­mu­nity hall.

Dis­trict Man­ager Amanda Byrne in­formed the mem­bers of the lo­cal au­thor­ity at their monthly meet­ing last week that work will be­gin im­me­di­ately on the schemes.

In her monthly re­port to the coun­cil­lors Ms Byrne said the Mun­ci­pal Dis­trict will shortly be­gin prepara­tory work on the 2019 Town and Vil­lage scheme pro­posal.
