Judge orders donations to SVP
OFFENDERS found in possession of drugs were required to make donations to the St Vincent de Paul by Christmas if they wish to avoid convictions when they appeared at Gorey District Court.
Darren O’Connor (21) of 12 Riverchapel Court, Courtown, was accompanied to court by his mother who heard how he as stopped and searched on April 11 at Courtown Road. Cannabis worth €10 came to light. In full time employment, he was told to come up with €400 for the SVP.
Ross Moore (21) from 59 Creagh Demesne, Gorey, was the target of search conducted under warrant at his home on February 7 when €20 worth of cannabis was seized.
Solicitor Lana Doherty produced a reference from Moore’s employer and stated that her client planned to travel next year to South America.
He was told to stump up €750 for the good cause selected by the judge.
