TEACHERS ARE THANKED FOR THEIR YEARS OF DEDICATION
RETIRED members from the Gorey branch of the Irish National Teachers’ Organisation (INTO) were honoured for their years of service in the teaching profession in Gorey town schools and surrounding areas at a function in the Coach House.
The teachers honoured were Anne Kearney (Shilleagh NS), Alice Doyle (Tombrack NS), Sinead McDonald and Niamh Ward Carty (Tara Hill NS), Deirdre O’Donoghue (Castletown NS), Noreen Caulfield, Judith O’Connor, Nora Murphy Cousins, Irene Mitchell, Therese Hayden and Ethna Murphy (Bunscoil Loreto), Sandra Horan (Gorey Central School), Con Brosnan (Ballycanew NS), Mary Murphy (Kilanerin NS) and Majella Dempsey (Monamolin NS).
The night began with a visit from Joe McKeown, central executive committee representative of INTO. Branch chairperson Karen Conroy was the master of ceremonies for the night and she thanked organisers Sean Ó Dubhlaing, Enda Morris, Fiachra Ó Tuairisig, Padraig O’Connor, Joe McKeown and Brid Cleary for the event.
Traditional music was provided on the night courtesy of Niall Quillinan and Aileen Kennedy, current principal of Bunscoil Loreto. A delicious spread of food was produced by the Coach House, followed by some baked goods from Stafford’s Bakery. Mena Florists in Gorey put together bouquet of flowers for the presentations.
One of the organisers, Brid, said thanked everyone for their help and tMaurice and the staff at the Coach House for being so accommodating.
Each teacher received a presentation of flowers, wine and a gift voucher for the Coach House.
