Motorist fined and banned for drink driving
WHILE his solicitor maintained that he was ‘moving the car a short distance’ rather than driving, there was still a guilty plea in a drink driving case involving Edward Harris (49) of 10 Riverchapel Gardens, Riverchapelwood, Courtown.
The incident dated from August 2, 2015, at Ballinatray Lower, Courtown, where the defendant was stopped by gardaí.
When later tested, he gave a reading of 59mg of alcohol per 100ml of breath. Solicitor Tim Cummings pointed out that his client hadn’t driven any major distance and was rather just moving the car.
He said that he was a father of two and would be seeking a postponement to allow him to get his affairs in order.
Judge Gerard Haughton agreed to this, handing down a €500 fine and a two year ban, postponed until March 1 of next year.
