‘She needs help’

A drugs possession charge brought against Michelle Gregan (28) from Killveny, Tinahely, was not finalised when she came before the District Court.

Judge Gerard Haughton learned that €20 worth of cannabis was seized one night from Ms Gregan at Hollyfort Road in Gorey during April.

The court heard that the accused had two similar previous convictions.

Solicitor John O’Donovan said that his client had suffered tragedy in her life.

The judge adjourned the case to allow preparation of a probation report.

He reassured Ms Gregan by saying that he had no intention of imposing a jail sentence. ‘What she needs is help, not punishment,’ he said.
