Why the world needs insects – find out during Science Week
What would happen to the world if there were no insects. Why do people have double joints. Discover the answers to these questions and more during Wexford Science Festival which is underway this week.
Science Foundation Ireland is calling on the people of Wexford to #StopAndAsk questions about the world around them during Science Week which is running from November 11 to 18. The aim of Wexford Science Festival is to highlight science through fun, engaging and interactive events while the #StopAndAsk campaign, now in its second year, encourages people to engage in scientific discovery and find out answers to questions about how the world works.
Among the events taking place in County Wexford are: Decoding Sound with Brendan Cooney on Tuesday, November 13 at 7 p.m. in Wexford Library; Code Breaker with Marc Mcmenamin on Thursday, November 15 at 7 p.m. in Enniscorthy Library, and Say Hello to Brain Health with Dr. Sabina Brennan on Thursday, November 15 at 7 p.m. in Gorey Library.
Wexford County Council is hosting a WexSci Showcase Day at County Hall in Carricklawn on Saturday, November 17 from 10.45 a.m. to 4 p.m. The schedule of events includes the following: 11 a.m. Humanology: A Scientist’s Guide to our Amazing Existence with Luke O’Neill, renowned Professor of Biochemistry at TCD; 12 noon, Super Cool Show with London Science Museum; 1 p.m., ‘It Doesn’t Add Up’ Show with Dr. Ken who will perform amazing magic tricks; 2 p.m., ‘Feel the Force’ with London Science Museum; 3 p.m., Entertaining Science Circus Show with Dr. Ken. There will also be displays on robotics, 3D Printing, Coding, Coastwatch, Calmast, Energy, Agricultural Science, Marine Dimensions and the Beat radio street party will be there.
