WOMEN’S REFUGE FUNDRAISER

Monday Patchwork Quilters; a Gorey based group that includes members from Ballyduff, have made a Reversible Patchwork Throw which they will raffle on December 17 in aid of Wexford Women’s Refuge (An Garda Síochána permit granted). 21 line raffle Cards are available if anyone wishes to help raise funds at €2 per line or three lines for €5. CLONEE LADIES’ FOOTBALL

Well done to our under-14 and under-16 teams on their recent county final wins.

Our club AGM will be held on Friday, November 16, at 8 p.m. in the clubhouse.

COMMUNITY ALERT

Committee members are presently collecting money for the Community Text Alert renewal. The fee of 10 euro per phone will renew your phone with the text alert till 2020. Payment as soon as possible to your area representa­tive would be much appreciate­d.

WINTER CARD DRIVE

The first of this year’s Card Drives will take place on Friday, November 23, at 8 p.m. in Clonee GAA Complex. The cost is five euro per person including tea and all money taken in on the night will be paid out in prizes. It always proves to be an enjoyable night and all are welcome.

COLÁISTE BHRÍDE STRICTLY

Rehearsals are well under way for this year’s Strictly in Coláiste Bhríde, Carnew. It will take place in the Amber Springs Hotel, Gorey, on Thursday, November 15, at 8 p.m. Tickets are available from PTA, dancers or by phoning 086 8500607 between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. Tickets are €10. Your support is much appreciate­d and plenty of entertainm­ent is guaranteed.

LADIES’ CLUB

The ladies’ club meet on the second Wednesday of every month.

Meeting in Clonee GAA Complex from 8 p.m. each month they try new things, listen to someone speaking about items of interest or giving demonstrat­ions, try an activity, make something new, go on outings or just come along for refreshmen­ts and a chat. New members are most welcome.

SOCCER NEWS

On Saturday, November 3, the under-13s took on Gorey Celtic in Gorey and gained a well deserved win in dreadful conditions. Abram O’Neill scored five, Thomas Walsh added two as did Jack Ellix, Leon Doran claimed a hattrick and Seán Óg Gilbride got one to bring Cormac’s total to 13 goals, with Gorey only managing two in reply. The Youths’ team, at home to St Leonards all turned up, as did the opposition, only to have their game called off by the referee due to the rain.

GAA/CAMOGIE NEWS

On Sunday, November 4, the under-14 hurlers took on Ballygarre­tt in a dinger of a game in the Martin Storey tournament. They were unlucky to lose out in the end by two points, 2-9 to 3-8 after giving an exibition of classy hurling. Ballygarre­tt came from behind to grab a late goal and Matt Gahan, Fionn Walsh, Adam Power, Patrick Kinsella and James Donnelly were outstandin­g for our side.

GAA LOTTO

Tonight, Tuesday the 13th. could be your lucky night and you could claim the €5,200 jackpot prize in the Monageer-Boolavogue GAA lotto draw. The four winning numbers will be drawn in the club complex in Monageer at 9.30 tonight and if you do not already have your ticket, costing only €2, you can buy one in the clubhouse immediatel­y before the draw. And even if you don’t claim the big prize, you might match-three and end up €160 richer.

MINISTERS OF THE WORD

The Minister of the Word at the 8 p.m. Vigil Mass on Saturday, November 17, is Catherine Whelan with Caroline Farrington helping distribute Holy Communion. At the 11 a.m. Mass on Sunday the 18th., the reader on duty is Leila Breen with Kathleen Kehoe acting as Eucharisti­c Minister.

MUSIC LESSONS

Kilmuckrid­ge/Monamolin Comhaltas are hosting music lessons for children and teenagers in Monamolin Hall each Monday from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. and on Saturday afternoons from 4.00 p.m. to 5 p.m. The lessons cater for individual­s wishing to learn an instrument or for those who what to join a group. ASKAMORE COMMUNITY GAMES

Due to severe lack of numbers at the Community Games AGM, an EGM will be held next Wednesday, November. 14th at 8.30 p.m. in Askamore Hall. If parents don’t attend the EGM, there will be no other option but to close the club. This means that activities like draughts, gymnastics, table quizzes, badminton, soccer, art and handwritin­g will no longer be held in the Kilrush-Askamore area. This would be a huge disappoint­ment to children who love being part of such activities. Please make every effort to attend next Wednesday to ensure that the Community Games continues.

COLÁISTE BHRÍDE STRICTLY

Coláiste Bhríde’s Strictly Come Dancing will take place on November 15 at 8 p.m. Tickets will be available in the school, from the PTA, from any of the dancers or by phoning 086 8500607 between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. Tickets will also be on sale in Gregan’s shop, Coolboy, Tinahely post office, and Aughrim post office.

MY FAIR LADY

Just a few more weeks for the cast and crew of Carnew Musical Society to put the polishing touches on their 52nd production, ‘My Fair Lady’ based on Pygmalion by George B Shaw, book and lyrics – Lerner and Loewe. The show will be performed in St Brigid’s Hall, Carnew from Monday, November 26 – Saturday, December 1.Coupled with a great storyline the show includes many favourites including, Wouldn’t it be loverly, I could have danced all night, Get me to the church on time, The Ascot Gavotte, On the Street where you liveand With a little bit of luck to name but a few. Priority Booking, sponsor and Super Sponsor Tickets are now available from.

The cost of staging musicals is very high and Carnew Musical Society would not be in a position to stage Musicals without the continued support of local businesses and patrons for their sponsorshi­p and patronage. Priority Booking tickets (which replaces the Associate Membership ticket) will be available from all committee and cast members at a cost of €17 each and will entitle you to priority booking for each seat purchased.

If you would like to sponsor, a sponsor ticket will cost €40 and will admit two people and sponsors will have their names listed in the programme. SPLIT THE POT

Ballyellis National School split-the-pot winner on Friday, November 9was Josie Doran, Monbay – winning €175. We thank everyone for supporting split-the-pot. Envelopes can be obtained from the School or any parent and from Ashling Walsh after weekend Masses in Askamore Church. Draws will take place every Friday morning in Ballyellis School.
