Gorey Rangers march on

-

Gorey Rangers marched on in the O’Neill’s LFA Junior Cup as they proved too strong for Corduff FC in their second round tie in Blanchardstown IT on Friday evening.

Eric Quinn scored twice for the visitors in their 3-0 victory, with Ryan Cullen grabbing their other goal from the penalty spot.

North End United have a chance to gain a semblance of revenge against the FAI Junior Cup conquerors Freebooters after they saw off Highview Athletic in the second round to set up a trip to face the Kilkenny outfit.

Despite having a depleted squad, with only one of the starting eleven from their Aviva win available, they ran out convincing 5-2 winners, with Paul Murphy (Kilmore) netting a double and Adam Beary, Paul ‘Patsy’ Malone and Tony Crosbie adding a goal apiece.

In the third round, Forth Celtic chalked up an impressive 5-2 win over Suncroft AFC from Kildare, with Darren Jordan firing them in front and Lee Busher and Pádraig Rossiter both adding doubles for the Murrintown men.

Elsewhere, Moyne Rangers progressed without having to kick a ball as they were handed a walkover from Vale Wanderers.

Wexford Bohs lost out by the odd goal in seven against Ardmore Rovers, with Sam O’Neill, Todd Hynes and Paddy Hartnett scoring for the Drinagh outfit, while there was no joy for Tombrack United, with Kevin Kenny getting their consolation goal in a 5-1 loss to Trinity Donaghmede.

It was also the end of the road for Curracloe United as they lost 6-0 to a strong Usher Celtic side.
