Enya is big hit during Stars in their Eyes

- By SARA GAHAN

There was some weird and wonderful transformations at Ballygarrett GAA Complex as Realt na Mara hosted their very own ‘Stars in their Eyes’ night.

Enya Finn was the overall winner at the second annual Stars in their Eyes fundraiser having transformed into the bearded lady from The Greatest Showman film, while Paul Smith came in second place for his interpretation of Frank Sinatra, followed by a masculine looking Spice Girls band in third.

Committee member, and one of the organisers, Shane Quinn said they raised a little over €8,000 that will go towards the GAA Club.

‘We decided to do it again this year because it was so successful last year,’ said Shane. ‘It is a great night out for everyone and we look forward to doing it again next year.’

There were more than 200 people from across Ballygarrett and beyond at the fundraising event and 11 acts took to the stage. The money was raised through ticket sales, a monster raffle and the open bar in the Ballygarrett GAA clubhouse.

Shane said Realt na Mara GAA club would like to thank all the sponsors, to those who attended, those who donated money or prizes and to all the hilarious acts who took to the stage on the night of the show.

‘It was an absolute brilliant night,’ added Shane. ‘Something we will all look forward to for next year too.’
