Art on sale for Amnesty

TO CO­IN­CIDE with In­ter­na­tional Hu­man Rights Day, the Pi­g­yard Art Gal­ley in Sel­skar, Wex­ford, will sell paint­ings do­nated by artists from all over Europe for €100 on Fri­day, De­cem­ber 7, at 6.30 p.m. All prof­its will go to Wex­ford Amnesty Group.

The range of paint­ings is eclec­tic with some­thing for ev­ery­one, in­clud­ing small framed land­scapes, still lives, mounted wa­ter­colours and ab­stract can­vases.

If you can’t wait un­til Fri­day, De­cem­ber 7, you can pop in to Pi­g­yard Gallery from Tues­day, De­cem­ber 4, where the paint­ings will be on view. If some­thing catches your eye, you are wel­come to make a bid for the paint­ing of your choice.

The auction will fea­ture a stun­ning col­lec­tion of more than 60 works of art by lo­cal Ir­ish and in­ter­na­tional artists.

A do­nated oil paint­ing by An­tonin Passe­mard from France who won a sil­ver prize at this year’s Art in the Open fes­ti­val in Wex­ford, will be raf­fled on the night, with tick­ets cost­ing €5 each or three for €10.

The sale has been or­gan­ised to co­in­cide with In­ter­na­tional Hu­man Rights Day. In giv­ing a gift of art, peo­ple will also be giv­ing a gift of hope this Christ­mas.
