Kilmore NS in Mulan at Opera House

-

PUPILS at Kilmore National School will return to The National Opera House on January 24 and 25 to perform their version of the hit musical Mulan Junior.

Following the success of the school’s award winning production of The Lion King Junior two years ago, the new show is expected to be a hit with audiences of all ages.

The Lion King production won Best Overall School Musical at the Student Theatre Awards in the Bord Gais Theatre in 2016 following a sell-out show in The National Opera House.

Based on Disney’s Oscar-nominated film, Disney’s Mulan Junior. is a heart-warming celebration of culture, honour and fighting spirit.

With hit songs and a story packed with action, humour and heart, Disney’s Mulan Junior brings ancient China to life with a modern sensibility.

The Huns have invaded, and it is up to the misfit Mulan and her mischievous dragon sidekick, Mushu, to save the Emperor. Defying the village matchmaker, Mulan takes up arms and disguises herself as a boy in order to spare her father from having to serve in the army.

As the great battle with the Huns approaches, Mulan must choose between revealing her true identity as a girl or saving all of China with her clever plan.

The show is directed by class teacher Mairéad Moore who is assisted by Órla Kelly, Dara Cullen and Liam Bates.

The school principal, Micheál Martin complimented everyone involved in the production and said it is a great event for the school community,

‘The children and their teachers have been busy preparing during lunch times since September and they are looking forward to putting on a great show. As always we receive great support from the school community in terms of costuming and props to ensure a professional look.’

‘It was reported that the 2016 performance of The Lion King was the fastest selling show in the opera house that year so I would encourage people to get their tickets early to avoid disappointment’, he said.

Tickets cost €6 for children under 16, €12 for adults and €18 for the founders circle. Prices include booking fee and tickets went on sale last week at the National Opera House.
