Kilmore ‘must be better than England’
The recession may still be worsening and unemployment levels may still be rising, but it appears that for some at least, life in the south Wexford village of Kilmore is better than living in England.
Mr Tommy Howlin told last week’s meeting of the South Eastern Regional Development Organisation in Waterford that so many English people have come to live in his village, that they now nearly outnumber the natives.
‘Bad and all as things are here,’ he said, ‘living here must be a bit easier than living in England. I asked one woman would she not be better off on the dole in England. She replied that she would to pay £15 in rent there, while she only had to pay 75p here.’
