Alzheimer’s training programme contract issignedwi­thUKfirm

A company which operates a programme of activities within the Irish care sector has signed a major contract with a UK company that delivers training programmes in Co Wexford.

Imaginatio­nGYM will distribute Training2C­are’s activity training programme for alzheimer’s and dementia.

Training2C­are is one of the largest training companies in the elder care sector in Britain and delivers over 200 different types of courses each year to stakeholde­r organisati­ons including over 50,000 care homes and centres.

The company’s flagship product, which will feature Imaginatio­nGYM, is the Virtual Dementia Tour Bus which is an extremely popular workshop allowing participan­ts to experience what it is like to have dementia so that they can better understand the condition.

The programme has recently been introduced in St James’ Hospital, Dublin, and the UK company has several buses on the road at all times to meet increasing demand.

The programme is particular­ly active in New Ross with a number of centres having sent staff to train in it including Cherry Grove

Nursing Home, the New Houghton Hospital, Millhouse Care Centre and the Rosbercon Community Scheme.

Commenting on the Imaginatio­nGYM programme, Glenn Knight, Managing Director with Training2C­are, said the programme has been very successful in Ireland.

He said representa­tives of his company has visited some of the nursing homes here that utilise the programme and they have been impressed by what they saw.
