Adamstown’s Ryan Carthy-Walsh entered the Under-23 high jump at 1.90m, had three fails and, despite there being just three competitors, unfortunately, did not place. The competition was won with 1.80m.

Wexford Athletics held their A.G.M. in the Riverside Park Hotel, Enniscorthy, on Wednesday.

The night began with a review of last year’s minutes, followed by reports from the main officers. The sponsor, Mr Oil, was thanked for their ongoing support.

All the clubs, parents, coaches, landowners and officers were thanked for their work and support during the year.

Nearly all clubs were represented and a lively discussion took place. There were ten motions put forward and seven were passed, most notably the clarification for regrading with Intermediate athletes, reduction of scoring members on the Senior men’s cross-country team, the inclusion of a county Senior inter-club relay competition, and further development of the athlete of the year award.

The existing committee of Nicky Cowman (President), Pat O’Leary (Vice-President), Paddy Morgan (Chairman), John Moore (Vice-Chairman), Anne Marie Forde (Secretary), Emmett Malone (Treasurer) and Michelle Byrne (Juvenile Competitions Secretary) were all elected unopposed, with the addition of the new Senior Competitions Secretaries of Louise Kehoe and Paul Gibbons (S.B.R.).

Senan O’Reilly stepped down from his role as P.R.O., and the position was not filled on the night, so, if there are any budding P.R.O’s out there, with an interest in athletics and some time on their hands, we would love to have you!
