Phyllis hands over reins of Old Folks Club
PHYLLIS DEMPSEY has decided to step down as chairperson for St Columba’s Old Folks Club after six successful years.
She announced her decision during last week’s AGM held in the club at Sean O’Byrne Park.
‘I have enjoyed the six years and thank the brilliant committee who were behind me,’ said Phyllis. ‘I am delighted to have been chairperson when we marked our 50th anniversary three years ago.’
The new chairperson for St Columba’s Old Folks Club will be Margaret Cooper, while Mags Kenny will take on the role of Vice Chairperson taking over from Margaret Donohoe.
Margaret takes on the role of secretary taking from Margaret Cooper, PRO is Karen Donohoe while Susan Ludlow and Eileen Kavanagh will look after the bingo. They will be assisted by 14 committee members.
Those attending the AGM held the club had a great year although they said it would have been better to get more support at the AGM.
Phyllis said the annual Christmas dinner, which was held two weeks ago, was a great success. She added they always hold it in January as it is something to look forward to.
St Columba’s Old Folks Club thanked Sammy Walker, Nicky Murphy, Anita Egan, Cllr Robbie Ireton, musicians Pat Jordan, Nicky Doyle, Colm Brennan, Fintan Duggan, Fionn Casey, Cllr Mary Farrell and Tommy Carroll.
The club meetS on Tuesdays from 12 noon to 3 p.m. and on Wednesdays from 7 p.m. until 10 p.m. in Sean O’Byrne Park. All new members are welcome to attend.
