THE Island Hunt Pony Club, a branch of the Irish Pony Club, was established in 1956, aimed at offering a range of equestrian activities for children of all abilities. Based in North Wexford, we have approx. 100 members. Children from the age of 6 to young adults (up to 23 years) can enjoy a range of activities that include eventing, mounted games, minimus and tetrathlon, camp, showjumping and dressage/flatwork, all the while preparing, if the individual wants, for competitions. The objective of the Island Hunt Pony Club is for all members to have as much fun as possible. The Club like to encourage young people to ride and to learn to enjoy all sports connected with horses; to provide instruction in riding and horsemanship and to instil in members the proper care of their animals; to promote the highest ideals of sportsmanship, citizenship and loyalty. The Island Pony Club mission statement is: The Irish Pony Club endeavours to promote and encourage horsemanship and loyalty in a safe and fun atmosphere for all its members and volunteers.
The island Hunt Pony Club are part of the Irish Pony Club, it is the main equestrian organisation that provides training and competitions to children and youths. It is affiliated to the Pony Club, the world’s largest association of young riders with 110,000 members in 18 countries across the globe. In the Irish Pony Club, we have approximately 3,000 members spread throughout 55 branches across twenty-six counties. The Irish Pony Club is a Voluntary Youth Organisation.
