Melvin’s Belgian Blue is crowned the champion

THE 38th annual fatstock show and sale at Carnew Mart saw a very large entry this year with 1,118 cattle and 70 calves.

The champion of the day was Melvin Masterson from Rathnure, with his Belgian Blue bullock, weighing 824kg and sold at €2,100.

It was a very lively trade, with buyers coming from across the country to take part in one of the most popular show and sale events in Wexford. There were over 400 weanlings on offerwith a strong export demand for E & U grades.
